Q: Why is my User ID so abbreviated? And what's with that password?

A: Let's take these one at a time:

User ID

The operating system running on the computer that houses the Colleague software is a version of UNIX. This operating system will not allow User IDs in excess of 8 characters. We have tried to be consistent (as much as is possible) with the naming conventions associated with e-mail accounts.

Password

Again, we must live with rules imposed by the operating system software.

• A password is case sensitive.
• A password cannot be all lowercase.
• A password cannot have imbedded spaces.
• A password must be a minimum of five characters and no more than twelve characters.
