Installing the Colleague User Interface

The new user interface for Colleague gives all of us access to the software in a format that is more consistent with other Windows applications. At the same time, the difference between it and the previous software (FrontView) is subtle enough that users should be able to quickly adapt to the new software.

Pre-Requisites

It is best to run your computer with a minimum display resolution of 800 x 600. If you don't know how to check and set this, click here.

Setup

Just follow these simple steps:

• Click on the Start button in the lower left-hand corner of the screen.
• Click on Run...
• Key in the following and click on OK

• Next, the Welcome screen will appear. Simply click on the Next button.

• The Installation Type screen will appear. Make sure that the Full Local option is selected; then click on Continue.

• The Workstation screen will appear. Key in your Colleague User ID in the appropriate field, and select the collive database. Click on Continue.

• The Specify Directory screen appears next. The correct directory should already be identified, so simply click on Continue.

• The software will now install on your computer. Please be patient, as this may take several minutes to complete.

• When the Setup Complete screen appears, the software has been successfully installed. Click on Finish.

• Next, we must verify that you have access to the necessary databases.
• Click on the Start button in the lower left-hand corner of the screen.
• Click on Run...
• Key in the following and click on OK

• Next, the Welcome screen will appear. Simply click on the Next button.

• The Installation Type screen will appear. Make sure that the Advanced option is selected; then click on Continue.

• The Advanced Database Functions screen will appear. If the two columns of databases are the same, you can just click on the Close button. If there are entries in the Central Installed database(s) column that do not appear in the Local Installed database(s) column, you must add them by clicking once on the database to be added, then clicking on the <-- button. Repeat this until the two columns match. Then, click on the Close button.

• The Setup Complete screen will appear again. Click on Finish.

Execution

During the installation and setup, an icon was created on your desktop that is called Datatel. By double clicking on this icon, you will start the new user interface to Colleague.

From this point, you would sign on to the system in the same way as you would with FrontView.
